Cobh Ramblers vs Athlone Town (15 May 2026, League of Ireland First Division): match facts, H2H and recent form

Cobh Ramblers edged a tight league duel at home, beating Athlone Town 1‑0 to move up to fourth place with 45 points from 13 wins, six draws and 12 defeats, their goal tally improving to 38 for and 43 against. The three‑point gap to seventh‑placed Athlone, who sit on 41 points after 11 victories, eight draws and 12 losses, was widened as the visitors failed to find a reply to the solitary strike. The result also tipped the head‑to‑head balance this season in Cobh’s favour, after they have now won one of the three meetings, with Athlone taking the other two. With the win, Cobh inch closer to the European spots while Athlone remain locked in the mid‑table scramble.
